5 Things You Should Know About Painting A Metal Fence in Colleyville, TX

When you have a metal fence around your house, you not only have something that looks good but something that increases the overall value of your home .
If it turns out that you want to paint your metal fence, there are some things that are important that you should know before you do so.
As this is the case, here are five things you should know about painting a metal fence.

1. Be Aware Of The Weather.
Not all weather is ideal for painting a metal fence -- specifically, you are going to want to avoid weather that is unpleasant or in-climate -- if it's raining, for example, that's bad for your painting project.
The better thing to do is to wait until you know that you're going to have a few days without rain or other such weather so that your paint work isn't ruined.
This is particularly the case when you are waiting for the primer or one of the coats of paint to dry.
There are few things that are quite as bad for drying paint than having a sudden downpour while you are waiting for it to fully dry.

2. Don't Paint A Dirty Fence
To make sure that you properly paint your fence, one of the most important things you can do is to never try painting over a metal fence that is dirty.
Firstly, if you give it a moment of thought, painting over a dirty fence is bound to make for a poorly painted fence.
The very nature of some of the more insidious dirty elements that can accumulate on the surface of your metal fence make it so that you won't be able to help but notice that it is there, under the layers of paint.
Do yourself a favor and make sure that your fence is properly cleaned before painting it.

3. Allow Time For Paint To Dry
The process of painting your metal fence includes the time that you will have to wait for the paint to actually dry.
It's true that the process of allowing paint to dry is not a particularly interesting one, but it is one that is absolutely necessary, nonetheless.
If your paint isn't fully dry and you try to paint over top it, you will end up pulling the partially dry paint from the fence and possibly ruin all of the work that you have done until that point.
If you're unsure if your paint job is dry, you can always test it to make sure that it is dry before you go on to the next step in the painting process.

4. How To Avoid Rust
To avoid paint, one thing you're going to want to do is to pain over an already rusted fence -- the rust does tend to eventually come through.
The second thing you're going to want to do is to make sure that your paint surfaces are fully dry before you paint.
Lastly, you should seriously consider getting rust resistant paint for your metal fence painting to make sure that you don't see rust on your metal fence.

5. Don't Paint Over Old Paint
Though some might think that there's nothing wrong with painting over old paint, it's actually one of the worst things you could do when you are looking at painting a metal fence.
The far better thing to do is to properly clean up the fence and then to sand it down such that you entirely remove the paint that is there and then you will be left with a good and smooth surface, the kind that is good for preparing for a proper paint job.

5 Tips And Tricks For Removing Wallpaper in Grapevine, TX

5 Tips And Tricks For Removing Wallpaper in Grapevine, TX

In the process of renovating your home or apartment, you can sometimes come to find that the one thing standing in your way of properly painting a room or hall is wallpaper that is already on the wall.
Of course, you do have the choice of painting over the wallpaper, which is an entirely different topic that we can tackle on a different day.
Removing the wallpaper may be your best choice sometimes.

As that is the case, let us now look at and consider five tips and tricks for removing wallpaper in Grapevine, TX.

1. Moisture Is Key To Removing Wallpaper
In terms of removing wallpaper, the fundamental thing that will basically always have to be the case is that you will need to moisten the glue that is underneath the wallpaper in order to get it in a state that it will be easier to remove.
There are two basic ways to get said glue to be in this state of moisture and that involves either spraying the wall with a mixture (more on this later), or using a portable steam machine meant for removing wallpaper.
There are those who might say that any steam machine would work, such as those made for steaming garments, but one meant for wallpaper could work better.

2. Easy To Clean Wallpaper Is More Difficult To Remove
When you come across wallpaper that is quite easy to clean, meaning that all you have to do is wipe the wallpaper with a moist cloth to get it to be clean, you will know that it will be more difficult to remove.
The reason that this is the case is that it is resistant to water in the first place, so just moistening the surface will do nothing to the glue underneath.
What you will ideally have to do is to make small holes in the surface of the wallpaper that extend to the wall underneath without actually damaging the wall.
You will then be able to get to the glue because the moisture will go under the wallpaper and go right to the glue.

3. Do One Small Section At A Time
Some will try to tackle the wallpaper removal as such -- moisten the glue of the wallpaper and then remove it.
The issue is that if you try to do too much of the the wallpaper at once, the wallpaper that you started with will be dry by the time you get to the end of the wallpaper spraying or steaming process.
The solution to this situation is that you have to do one section at a time -- starting with one section and moistening and then removing that same section.

4. Try Just Pulling Down
There is wallpaper out there that is easy enough to remove that all you have to do to remove it is to pull down on it.
This is the sort of wallpaper that is only meant to be on temporarily and then removed and replaced by something else.
This sort of wallpaper is sometimes forgotten, and by the time you get to it you have no idea that you're dealing with a wallpaper that is so easy to remove.
Before you invest a lot of time and money to remove your wallpaper, test a corner at the top and try pulling it off --if it easily comes off, you're in luck!

5. Fabric Softener And Dish Soap Combined Make Good Wallpaper Release Formula
There are many good formulas you can use to get the wallpaper to be released from the wall but one of the easiest ones that you can almost always make with what you have at home -- a combination of fabric softener and dish soap.
Of course there are formulas you can purchase and it's perfectly okay to invest in such a formula if you wish, but people do also find that fabric softener and dish soap work perfectly well.
Even easier, if you want to go simple -- just white vinegar!

7 Important Considerations When Decorating A Baby's Nursery in Southlake, TX

7 Important Considerations When Decorating A Baby's Nursery in Southlake, TX.

Decorating a baby's nursery is unlike decorating any other room in your house because, fundamentally, the resident of the room is unlike the other people who live in your house.
As a result, your decorating style has to take into account the fact that the person for whom you are decorating is more often you and your spouse (where applicable) and not necessarily the baby that will be sleeping and being in the nursery.
With that in mind, here are seven important considerations when decorating a baby's nursery in Southlake, TX.

1. Everything You Need In Reach Of The Changing Table
When you're changing a baby, it's quite important that everything you need be in reach at all times.
Your typical baby tends to be a bit wriggly, and it's too easy for a baby to go from being on the table to falling within even seconds of walking away from the table, save for the possibility of a restraining system.
Though it may seem excessive, having everything within reach is a good way to also make sure you have stock of disposable products as they will all be right there with you.

2. Not Too Bright
The color scheme may appeal to you but since you will be having a baby in the room you should bear in mind that the colors might be too bright.
Okay colors for a baby's nursery include white, black, gray, beige -- the more mute, the better when it comes to a baby's bedroom.

3. Decorate The Ceiling
The baby will be spending plenty of time on their back so it doesn't hurt to have some decorations on the ceiling as well.
This is in addition to possible mobiles hanging over their crib space, of course -- you don't need to get a Michelangelo to get up to your ceiling to paint a masterpiece, mind you.
It could even be something as simple as printed wall stickers that can go up on the ceiling and improve the look.

4. Washable Wall
The wall in the baby's nursery is prone to getting dirty, especially if you have a little baby boy that can spray all over the place (including the wall)
If you want to make life easier for yourself, make sure your wall is washable, either in the form of washable wallpaper (possibly an easier option) or glossy paint that tends to be more easy to wash.
Having a wall that's washable is so much better because you won't have to spend so much time scrubbing the wall to get it to be clean.

5. Dark Is Good
When it comes to getting sleep, keeping the nursery dark is a good thing, so you want to do everything you can to get it to be darker.
This can be chiefly in the form of getting blackout blinds for the windows and making sure that when you put the baby to nap or sleep that you use them.

6. Make It Personal
One of the nice things about decorating is that you can make it personal.
You can do this by putting up photographs of your family and loved ones on the wall as well as getting drawings and paintings that are meaningful to you.

7. Avoid Clutter
As much as it can be tempting to load up a baby's nursery with things, it is actually better to keep fewer things in the room.
This is because the more you have in the room, the more likely you are to possibly trip when you are putting the baby to bed or to nap.

5 Techniques For Matching Colors When Painting Your Home in Coppell, TX

When you're painting your home and have some colors that you really like, such as when you are repainting one of the rooms of your home or even when you are re-painting the exterior of your home, you could come to have the need to match the old colors of your home.
There are ways that you should be able to match the new colors with the old colors, meaning the ways to make sure that the new color you are going to use to paint your home should match the color that was there, at least to some extent.

With that being the case, here are five techniques for matching colors when painting your home in Coppell, TX.

1. Use Your Eyes And Best Judgement
There's such a thing as matching colors perfectly, and then there's such a thing as doing your best to match the colors you had with what is available out there.
After all, even if you do your best there's the possibility that the color you had on or in your home just doesn't exist anymore, as it were, as it may have very well been some sort of proprietary tint that the paint maker wanted to sell exclusively, and they could very well not sell paint anymore or at least not that particular color.
Sometimes all you can do is to look at the color or colors that were there and then head to the paint store and do your best to match the colors.

2. Take A Picture
Another technique that you can use to match the colors is to use a camera, whether it's an analog or digital camera or even the camera app that comes built in on your average smart phone.
More specifically, you are going to want to use the camera in order to take photos of the paint color that you are trying to match in action -- whether it is on the exterior of your home or if it is on your kitchen cabinets.
By doing this you'll be able to take the pictures to a paint store and get a paint that comes close in matching the color.

3. Use An App
There are apps available for you when you have certain kinds of smart phones that will be able to use the built in camera on the phone to analyze the color that you want to match.
The app will generally analyze the color and then use a color matching technology to find the kind of paint that it believes that it is looking at and the brand name that it believes is the matching color.
Some apps also will directly allow you to find stores where you would be able to buy the paint.

4. Scrape Some Paint
Though it is not an ideal option, you could always scrape a little bit of the paint off of the area where you are looking to repaint and take the sample into the paint store where you intend on buying the paint that will be matching the old color.
The store in theory will be able to take your sample and run it in a machine that will analyze it and show you the kind of paint that you will need to match the older paint job.

5. Bring Home Samples

The last thing you can try if you don't want to go for the other options is to just bring home a few paint samples that seem close enough, and use them until you have your match.
The good thing about paint samples is that they are relatively inexpensive and will give you a good idea of how colors will look under different light conditions.

5 Steps To Removing A Water Stain From Your Ceiling in Grapevine, TX

5 Steps To Removing A Water Stain From Your Ceiling in Grapevine, TX

When you find yourself with a stain in your home, you might have to take measures immediately in order to take care of it.
When that stain happens to be a water stain on your ceiling, on the other hand, you have to be a bit more careful as you could easily find yourself getting the stain back again if you don't do the right thing in working with it.

With that being the case, here are five steps to removing a water stain from your ceiling in Grapevine, TX.

1. Finding The Source Of The Stain
The first thing you absolutely have to do when you're working with a water stain is to determine what brought it about in the first place -- because if you don't do this, you can take all of the other steps to clean it up and paint and then just have another water stain in its place days or weeks later.
There are typically about two kinds of things that could bring about a water stain on your ceiling, and both can be resolved though of course some professional help may be necessary.
The first is if you have some sort of appliance that is leaking water above your ceiling -- in which case the appliance should be repaired or replaced.
The second possibility is that you might have damage on your roof that may have allowed water to leak in through it in which case you would have to have access to your roof and determine the extent to which the damage took place and if it's possible for you to repair it.
Either way -- whether you get someone professional to fix it or do it yourself, make sure you get it done before you take care of the stain.

2. Clean The Stain
The stain is going to have to be cleaned, and that is going to involve a solution that you can either try to buy in a cleaning store or make yourself with one part bleach and three parts water.
You will want to make sure that you apply this well to the stain because as much as the stain might look bad, it may be harboring mildew or mold that is just waiting to grow on your ceiling -- just about the worst thing you can breathe in.
Make sure that once you have finished washing the ceiling that you allow it to fully dry.

3. Sand The Area
In order to make sure that your painting surface is as smooth as possible, which is good for getting the paint that you apply to properly adhere, it's a good idea to sand your ceiling, or at least the area where you will be painting.
Make sure that you do not too rough of a sanding, but just gently enough that your paint will go on smoothly.

4. Prime The Area
You will next apply a coat of primer paint -- it is the next thing that will be tremendously helpful in assuring that your ceiling is properly painted.
Primer paint comes in many varieties, and one that you will want to think about getting for your ceiling painting project is one that will block any remnants of the stain that may be left over.
With the right stain blocking primer, you will have a ceiling that is ready to be painted - -make sure of course to allow plenty of time for the primer to dry.

5. Paint The Area (Possibly The Whole Ceiling)
The last thing you will do is to actually paint the area of your ceiling where you had the stain -- and possibly more, depending on how the ceiling starts to look as you paint it.
Specifically, if you note that the color of the new paint looks nothing like the color that your ceiling previously was (as much as your paint might be coming from the exact same bucket) it may be a good idea to paint the rest of the ceiling to match the one area.
Once you have accomplished all of this, you will be able to allow your ceiling to dry and then have a ceiling that is free of a water stain and looks much better.

7 Colors To Consider For Your Stucco Exterior in Colleyville, TX

Having a stucco exterior can be quite fantastic in terms of how durable it is, how long a good paint job will last, as well as just how good it can look if done right.
Of course the big question is when you are looking to paint your stucco exterior -- what is the color paint that you should use for your home?
With this being the case, here are seven colors to consider for your stucco exterior in Colleyville, TX.

1. Dark Red
Dark red is one of the classic colors that a person might want to use for a stucco exterior as it brings to mind a nice vintage looking brick exterior that looks just right.
Dark red has a powerful look to it and it will certainly make an impression on those who see it on the exterior of your stucco home.
As far as good colors for stucco homes go, you really can't go wrong with the classic look of dark red and if you're stuck looking for a a basic color you most likely will do well with this one.

2. Brown
Though to the untrained eye, brown on stucco looks remarkably like plain stucco that isn't painted at all, this is not the case.
With the right shade of brown, a well painted brown stucco exterior can look positively fantastic and give your stucco exterior home the right look.
It has a look of earthiness and a good home like feel, one that people might want to look forward to going home to at the end of the night.

3. Blue
Blue brings to mind the sky, which depending on the shade that is used to be painted on the exterior of your stucco house can look like anywhere from the sky to the deepest ocean or beyond.
There are quite a lot of shades of blue that would look quite nice on a stucco exterior that would really bring a lot of light and levity into the neighborhood into which it would be introduced.
You could do a lot of good by painting the exterior of your stucco home blue.

4. White
White is one of the best colors that you can use when you are thinking of painting the exterior of your stucco home.
White is really nice because it will do you a lot of good especially depending on the average temperature in the hotter months of the year.
This is the case because a white stucco house will tend to keep the interior of your home cooler, as it will reflect light from the sun which is one way to cool our home.

5. Gray
if you're looking to have a more neutral color on the exterior of your home but are not quite ready to commit to something like white, you can do a lot of positive in terms of painting the exterior a good solid gray.
There are many shades of gray that you can choose for the exterior of your stucco home (certainly more than fifty of them, in any case) and they will all do well in terms of improving the look of your stucco house.

6. Light Green
Light green is the sort of color that a person might associate with a shamrock or certain kinds of grass but there are so many other things that are green other than these things.
Light green really is a positive color that is full of nature and the glory of it -- and who wouldn't want the exterior of their home to have some association with this kind of positive energy?

7. Black
Black is a bit iffy as far as colors go for the exterior of your stucco home as there's a possibility that your neighbors might not be so happy with your choice in color.
If you are determined to have a black stucco home, however, you might  want to use some other colors for the trim to offset the darkness of the exterior.

5 Tips And Tricks For Painting Your Living Room in Southlake, TX

5 Tips And Tricks For Painting Your Living Room in Southlake, TX.

Your living room is a delightful place for you to spend time when you are at home, whether it is lounging on the couch and watching television or even playing a board game with friends and family.
Having a well painted living room is important not in terms of aesthetics but for the overall health of your home.
Painting your living room doesn't have to be too difficult of a thing though it sometimes can end up being so when we are not careful with what we do while engaged in the painting project.
With that being the case, let's look at five tips and tricks for painting your living room in Southlake, TX.

1. Make Time To Paint Your Living Room
It's rather unfortunate, but a lot of people will look at a painting project for their living room and presume that they know how long it is going to take them.
The truth is that the majority of these people will be completely wrong about how long it will take and based on that will not properly prepare for the painting jog.
Of course this problem leads to a bigger problem in that if you start off thinking you know how long the painting will take and you start running out of time, you might end up trying to take painting shortcuts such as not waiting long enough for your coat of primer to dry before painting the first coat of paint.

2. Make Sure To Clean Before Painting
A wall that is not cleaned before being painted is one that will not be painted well -- can you just imagine with the dust and dirt that accumulates on the surface of a wall over time how poorly it would take the paint.
The best thing you can do to ensure that your paint project starts off well is to properly clean everything on your wall including all of the various mites that have deposited themselves on your wall over time -- a good microfiber cloth that is slightly damp over the surface of the wall will take care of most of it if not all of it.
After you have done this make sure to allow time for your walls to dry -- you can use a dry microfiber cloth to help expedite the process.

3. Protect The Floor From Paint
As you may know, getting paint on the floor is a sure-fire way to make sure that your floor will be somewhat painted exactly there -- and no matter how you try to get that paint off of the floor, you're going to have quite a hard time getting it to be completely clean.
As an alternative to this, think about the possibility of protecting your floor from the paint instead -- there are so many ways to protect the floor including tarp and drop cloths made of various materials like canvas.
Using a drop cloth that uses canvas for the purpose of weight and a plastic liner to ensure that no paint gets through to the floor.

4. Sand Well
As you should be aware, a surface that is smooth is better for the purpose of painting than one that is not as smooth.
One way to get a smoother painting surface is to properly sand your living room walls -- you're not sanding so hard that your wall comes off but just enough so that the surface is smooth -- think of it as gently sanding the surface of your living room walls.

5. Test Out The Color At Home
The way that some people test out paint colors is that they go to a paint store and get a paint swatch and then look at it and think about what they think of the color and decide in the store if the color is right for them.
This works in some cases but in many instances you get the paint home and apply it to your living room and realize only after the fact that the way the color looks in your living room at night with the lights on is not the same as how the color looks in a well lit paint store.
It's far better to get a paint sample and to paint a small area of one of the walls and then see how the color looks in different light conditions.

7 Ways To Improve Your Curb Appeal in Coppell, TX

7 Ways To Improve Your Curb Appeal in Coppell, TX

In the world of home selling, one thing that can tip the balance in your favor in terms of getting a better sale and doing it in a timely manner is curb appeal.
Curb appeal refers to the value that people see in your home from a distance -- specifically, the distance that one would have in walking past the house or even driving nearby it.
With that being the case, let us consider seven ways to improve your curb appeal in Coppell, TX.
1. Paint The House
One commonly overlooked method to improve the curb appeal of your home is to paint the exterior of your home.
If a person sees your home and they see peeling paint or a color that is clearly worn, it is something that depreciates the value of the home.
It is well worth making an assessment every now and again to see if it is worth repainting your home exterior such that it gets a better look and overall curb appeal.

2. Trim Your Trees
Your trees may look good on their own, but with the proper trimming they can look even better.
A tree that has branches that are flailing all about, so to speak, does not look nearly as good as a tree that has been well trimmed.
Of course this doesn't mean that you should embrace some kind of particular shape or style -- just that your tree shouldn't look like your home was abandoned years ago.

3. Painted Front Door
One of the more simple ways to boost your curb appeal is to paint your front door.
Specifically, one should consider painting the front door a color that contrasts with your existing home color -- not necessarily the same as your existing home color.
Having a contrasting front door color is a good way to boost your curb appeal.

4. Expanded Porch
Your porch is an important part of your home -- it can be seen as an external area where people can still enjoy being in your home while enjoying the outdoors.
Having a good porch can help you with entertaining guests as well as just having a simple place to have a cup of tea while reading a book.
Expanding your porch will make it such that you can have a better time -- and it certainly looks better to not have a cramped porch.

5. Window Planters
Window planters can be hung from every window or just from some of them, perhaps even to form a pattern outside of your home.
Window planters add a certain element of nature to the exterior of your home and also add to the curb appeal.
It also can be used to grow herbs that you may be able to use in your daily cooking.

6. Walkway To Your Front Door
As nice as a house as you may have, if you don't have any way to get to the front door other than cutting through your grass it's a bit of a let down.
This is something that can even be seen as far away as your curb, meaning that the look of your house without a walkway is not as good as the look of your house with one.
Constructing a good walkway to your home can also make the walk simpler and safer for people as you can add lights to the walkway, illuminating it at night for evening visitors.

7. Festive Flag
Flags can add an element of aesthetic value to your home and can also tell passersby your interests in a glance -- or your heritage.
You can, for example, hang up a flag with kittens on it -- perhaps even one that resembles a kitten dwelling in your home -- to show off your fondness for kittens.
Alternatively, you can have perhaps a flag that shows off your own background -- even if that means musical theater!

7 Colors To Consider For Your Kitchen Cabinets in Colleyville, TX

7 Colors To Consider For Your Kitchen Cabinets in Colleyville, TX

When you are looking to paint or repaint your kitchen cabinets, there are few decisions that you will have to make that are as critical as the one related to the color paint or paints you will choose for them.
There are so very many colors from which you can choose and one of the biggest determining factors of what is right is what works best for you.
With that being the case, let us look at seven colors to consider for your kitchen cabinets in Colleyville, TX.

1. Black

Black is what some might consider to be a non-traditional color for kitchens in that it is somewhat of a downer color, yet at the same time it is a color you should consider more carefully before rejecting it out of hand.
Black kitchen cabinets give your kitchen somewhat of a more contemporary look and have one really nice advantage that people don't tend to think about too often -- they're really good at hiding a lot of the stains that tend to come up during everyday use of the kitchen.
This is not to say that one shouldn't have a regular cleaning schedule for their kitchen, of course -- just that you may not have to jump on the microfiber cloth at the first small smudge!

2. White

Of course, having already discussed black as a possibility for your kitchen cabinets, we now turn to the color on the other side of the spectrum -- white.
White has the problem that black does not have in that you will immediately spot any kind of stain that may come about in your kitchen.
That being the case, you will also find that white as a kitchen cabinet color tends to open up your kitchen
space wise, and goes really well with other colors that you may choose to use as accent colors.

3. Brown

For people that opt to stain their kitchen cabinets rather than painting them, the idea of painting your kitchen cabinets brown may seem an odd an even a laughable idea, but there is merit to it.
Brown is a classic kitchen cabinet color and can go really well with black as far as accent colors go.
Bear in mind that a key difference between painting your kitchen cabinets brown and staining them is that when you stain them, you're not going to see the grain of the wood the way you would if you stain them.

4. Green With Blue Accents

Green is a classic color for painting the interior of your home as well as the exterior to some extent and depending on the shade of green that you use, it can really look splendid on your kitchen cabinets.
Adding a blue accent to your green kitchen cabinets is bound to be an improvement to them, as the blue and green (or green and blue depending on how you look at it) tend to go well together.
Green reminds people of nature oftentimes, and blue the same, so when you put the two together you have a nice combination that works well in a kitchen.

5. Gray And White

Gray is  just the right balance between black and white, and when you add white as a counterbalance to the gray, you really have a good look.
Gray and white kitchen cabinets tend to look particularly good when you match them up with stainless steel appliances.

6. Beige

Beige is a color for kitchen cabinets that is said to look good in just about any light, so you may find that it will work well for your kitchen.
Depending on how much light is in the room when you are looking at the cabinets, the cabinets can take on anywhere from a grayish-beige appearance to a darker gray with a hint of beige.

7. Light Yellow

Lastly, if you like a bit of sunshine in your life and therefore your home, you may want to consider a lighter yellow for your kitchen cabinets.
You should bear in mind that you don't necessarily have to have your kitchen cabinet be entirely yellow, if you think that there's a possibility that you will find the color to be overwhelming if it's the only color.
Black, for example, makes a superb complementary color to go along with yellow.

Should You Remove Your Popcorn Ceiling in Grapevine, TX?

When you have a home and are thinking about the different ways that you can remodel or otherwise improve it, the ceiling may be one of the last things you look to improve - quite literally.
If you happen to have popcorn ceiling, the question may come up on how to make it look better and the thing you may consider is either to possibly repaint it, clean it thoroughly, or even to just remove it entirely.

With that being the case, let us now consider and look at whether you should remove your popcorn ceiling
in Grapevine, TX.

Remove : Because It May Contain Asbestos

If your home was built before 1978, there's a possibility that your popcorn ceiling has some element of asbestos to it -- an extremely toxic substance that could cause a number of health problems.
The truth is that the only way that you could get hurt by it is by the ceiling flaking off onto the ground, but this is not a risk that a lot of people would be willing to take, all things considered.
It may be best to avoid having such a ceiling and get the ceiling professionally removed, but if you get the ceiling tested and you do have asbestos you will need to get a certain kind of remover that works with asbestos.

Keep : Because It Does Good Muffling Echoes

The biggest selling point that popcorn ceiling had for a lot of people for quite awhile was the fact that it is so impressive as muffling sound that might come about from being in the room -- reducing echo, that is.
Some people have noticed that when they remove the popcorn ceiling from a room in their home, it does tend to increase the echo in the room by a bit.
The plus side is that there are more modern methods to improving the sound in your rooms and halls than using popcorn ceiling.

Remove : Because It's Just Ugly

It's just not something that's up for debate -- popcorn ceilings are downright ugly -- they look a bit like someone took a stew of some sort, pureed it, and then dyed it as white as possible in most part (you don't often see a popcorn ceiling that's not white for some reason.)
Popcorn ceilings additionally don't get better looking with age -- as they age, they actually get worse looking as bits and pieces so easily come off of the ceiling and any attempt to clean the ceiling will often get you a ceiling that looks a little cleaner and a lot less pleasant looking.

Keep : It Keeps Bumps And Flaws Hidden

One of the best things about popcorn ceiling is that it is quite a simple way to take a ceiling that is uneven and full of flaws and evens it out.
The application of the popcorn ceiling means that you will have taken that uneven ceiling and given it a mostly uniform level, though that will be a level that is entirely covered in bumps.

Remove : Hard To Clean

Popcorn ceilings are really difficult to clean because of the texture and all of the bumps that go along with it.
Thanks to the texture, just getting into the various crevices of the ceiling can be extremely problematic and difficult.

Bottom Line :

The  process of removing your popcorn ceiling can be extremely difficult and messy but you may find that your home is better off as a result.
Of course, you may find that you like the qualities of having popcorn ceiling and the acoustic effects that it has enough to leave on your popcorn ceilings.
